1) How does MobileTalk work?

With MobileTalk, we will give you a local access number to dial (a pre-fix), which you dial before your international call. Once you have either registered your mobile number under the free trial or have subscribed, our authenication servers will recognise your mobile number via Caller Line Identification (CLI), will check that you have call credit in your account and will allow you to make your international call over our network.

Once you are authorised and connected to the MobileTalk platform, you will hear a message telling you how much call credit you have remaining (or a dial tone if you prefer) and then you simply dial the international number you wish to call and wait for the other party to answer.

2) How much does it cost to subscribe to MobileTalk?

There is not cost to subscribe to MobileTalk, there are no monthly charges to use the service or minimum consuption charges. The only cost to you is the pre-paid call credit which you need to add to your account to make your international calls.

3) What other costs are there to use the MobileTalk service?

There are two parts and two charges to making an international telephone call using MobileTalk.

a) Making a local call to dial RedNet5's Spanish access number (951233949) to connect to the MobileTalk platform - for this part you will be charged by your mobile operator (i.e. Orange, Vodafone, Movistar) as per your mobile tariff to call a normal Spanish landline number.

b) Making your international call using the MobileTalk platform - for this part you will be charged by RedNet5 as per the RedNet5 call rate specified in the rate tables. The cost of the international part of the call will be deducted from the call credit that you have added to your account.

4) How can I make MobileTalk even more cost effective?

MobileTalk has been designed to reduce the cost of making international calls from your Spanish mobile phone. As mentioned previously, there are two parts to making a call using MobileTalk and two charges. Normally, the most expensive cost is what you pay to your mobile operator to connect to the MobileTalk platform.

We recommend that in all instances you contact your mobile operator or visit your local mobile phone shop and check what your call tariff is to call a Spanish landline telephone number. Once you have this information, ask if there is a cheaper tariff available (remember to ensure any change you make fits with your normal usage requirements) and also ask if there are any special promotions towards calling  Spanish landline telephone numbers (i.e. favorite numbers, free calls after certain times or at weekends, etc.).

It is also worth bearing in mind that there is a thing called "precio de guiri" ... which loosely translates are "foreigners price" - it happens in every country to every nationality (think London cabbie/Japanese tourist). If you went blindly into a mobile phone shop and asked for a new mobile phone, the sales assistant might not always give you best advice and more often than not will put you on one of the highest tariffs. Likewise, the sales assistant might just forget to tell you about hidden costs, comprimising conditions or special offers that could save you money.

By minimising the local call cost to call RedNet5's Spanish access number will reduce the overall cost of the international call.

 5) How many phone numbers can I add to my account?

You can add as many phones to your account as you desire (Spanish mobile numbers and Spanish fixed line telephone numbers), which will all share the same call credit.

6) Now that I have subscribed, what next?

Once you have subscribed to MobileTalk and after you have used your FREE call credit, the next action is to add some more call credit to your account, which is done by logging into your account with the login details emailed to you after you subscribed.

7) How can I add more call credit to my account?

RedNet5 offer you two options to control the call credit in your account:

a) Manual top-up: login to your account and purchase call credit yourself - look for the "top-up" button on the account overview page.

b) Automatic top-up: register your Spanish bank account or credit card details with RedNet5 by calling RedNet5's office (951 047 211) and we will automatically top-up your account when your account balance reaches a low point (i.e. €5,00). This option is useful if you make many calls as it will prevent your telephone call from disconnecting should your call credit run out mid-call.

8) How can I see my MobileTalk call history?

Once you have subscribed, you would have received a username and password so that you can login to your on-line account. From within your account you can monitor the calls being made per phone, add call credit, check your remaining call credit, check the call costs, etc.

9) Will MobileTalk work with my mobile phone?

MobileTalk will work with ALL Spanish mobile phones and with ALL Spanish mobile phone operators. You do not need to change anything, just subscribe to the service, create an account, add some credit and start saving money off all your international mobile calls.

10) Will I have to change my mobile number?

No. MobileTalk does not replace your mobile phone service, it is a value added service. You continue to use your mobile service as normal and just use MobileTalk for those times that you want to make an international call.

11) Will MobileTalk save me money when making calls to Spanish numbers?

No. MobileTalk is a service that saves you money when calling internationally.

12) Can I use MobileTalk abroad?

Not at the moment, this service is only available in Spain. However, MobileTalk is expanding and will have other country access numbers added. This means, for example, that if you were in the UK with a UK mobile phone and wanted to make an international call then you would dial the UK access number.

The next phase of countries that we expect to lauch during 2008 will include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Your MobileTalk account is global, which means that the call credit will be available for use from anywhere ... it is just a question of registering your other telephone number (i.e. your UK mobile phone number) on your account and waiting for RedNet5 to launch the UK access number.

13) Can I use a roaming mobile phone with MobileTalk?

Yes but we would recommend that you check your roaming charges first.

MobileTalk is designed to reduce the cost of international calls when using a local mobile phone (i.e. a Spanish mobile phone in Spain) with the local access number (i.e. Spain). If you were to use, for an example, a UK mobile phone with the Spanish MobileTalk access number then you will be charged a roaming fee by your UK mobile operator. Now, the overall charge might be less using MobileTalk in this manner than if you were to call abroad directly using your "roaming" UK phone but we cannot guarantee it.

14) Do you charge by the second?

Yes, after the first minute.

15) Is there an establishment charge?

Not from MobileTalk, however your mobile operator might charge this. We recommend that you consult your tariff conditions and inform yourself of the charges that your mobile operator will charge to call a landline number.
